The amazing Amy Johnson, Creedence (8), Aurelia (4) and Everdeen (23 months). Amy also lost a baby to miscarriage in February, 2013.
Amy had a healthy pregnancy with Creedence and carried post dates. She was induced and says that many interventions followed. While she was able to avoid a cesarean she had just about every possible intervention prior. Creedence was in distress was she was born and Amy isn't certain if she was breathing or not. She was ultimately taken to NICU where she needed a short stay.
Amy's pregnancy with Aurelia was her first with morning sickness which was quite a change and made things more difficult. Her labor and delivery, however, were quick and uncomplicated. Amy's third pregnancy was the first they decided not to tell everyone right away and she ended up losing the baby just before the 13 week marker they'd been waiting to share. It was a difficult time trying to process quietly but she was able to conceive Everdeen just three months later. Her emotions of having lost a baby and simultaneously knowing that Everdeen wouldn't have come to be otherwise were quite conflicting. Her pregnancy and birth with Everdeen went well and were nearly identical to Aurelia's.
Amy was able to breastfeed all three of her girls for their first 6 months. When they got teeth and became mobile she found that they were no long interested but the transition went quite smoothly.
Amy was assaulted 10 years ago but didn't seek therapy until very recently. It has been through therapy that she has begun to come in her own as a woman and mother. She says that even though she knows her children are her own there's been an essence of motherhood that has felt as if she's borrowing them. She's working on solidifying those feelings and finally claiming her motherhood, this leap was a huge part of that journey.
