The beautiful Tabatha Bannister with her son Brixton (13 months). Tabatha found her pregnancy to be very stressful. Her husband is active duty Navy and had deployed two weeks prior to her finding out she was pregnant, at just 6 weeks along. He missed her whole pregnancy until about 2 weeks prior to Brixton's birth. She had an amazing birth in hospital following an induction due to high blood pressure. She says that it wasn't what she expected after planning for a natural water birth but in the end, it was all about getting her son here safely. She had amazing people supporting her which made it all okay. She says she feels made to be a mom and has found motherhood all around amazing. Tabatha loved breastfeeding and she and Brixton had a wonderful breastfeeding relationship from his birth through November of last year, when he was about 11 months old. They both were attacked by a dog and Brixton suffered a considerable wound to his face and mouth that made continued breastfeeding impossible. She tried to pump to keep up with his needs after it was clear that feeding him directly wouldn't work but her body simply wouldn't respond to the pump. The abrupt transition was very difficult for her. Knowing that in a time he needed comfort most she wasn't able to give that all to him but she also knows he could have been taken away from her entirely and is so grateful. Tabatha says she has never been confident in her body and growing up she was never really supported, always encouraged to lose weight and diet. Her husband has tried to make her feel amazing but it wasn't until she had her son, is holding on to extra weight and has stretch marks everywhere that she is finally comfortable and confident. This body, she says, is a beautiful thing and it was not ruined by her baby, if fact, he turned it all around for her.
