The stunning Janica Smith with her daughters Kendal (3) and Sage (1 month). Janica had a healthy pregnancy with Kendal and was able to have a vaginal birth. She had a uterine fibroid that was not problematic during her pregnancy but lead to some bleeding and clots afterwards. Janica and Kendal were able to have a great breastfeeding relationship but she got bit for the first time at 10 months and switched to exclusive pumping until she was a year old. Janica's uterine fibroid continued to cause her trouble and her doctor recommended that she have a full hysterectomy in order to resolve it. She decided to get a second opinion prior to doing something so drastic and found a doctor willing to just remove the fibroid. She had hoped to have it removed laparoscopically but there was some concern it had attached to her fallopian tube so they had to give her a cesarean like incision. They were able to fully remove the fibroid without damaging her fallopian tube and her doctor gave her a 5 year window to get pregnant again and the were able to conceive Sage in about 3 years. Her pregnancy with Sage was uneventful as well, however, due to her previous uterine issues it was deemed dangerous to allow labor to start on it's own or have a vaginal delivery. She delivered Sage via cesarean at 38 weeks without complication and she's perfectly healthy today. Breastfeeding is off to a wonderful start and Janica hopes to make it to 18 months this time.
