The beautiful Sarah Duprey Rasner with her son Henry (23 months). Sarah had a relatively healthy pregnancy other than a few hiccups with her needing IV fluids and gaining more weight than recommended. She saw a midwife she had a great relationship throughout her prenatal care but ended up delivering with another midwife in the practice. She had a birth plan and had hoped to birth in the water but when she arrived at the hospital the intake nurse said, "No tub for you! Your BMI is way too high for that." She didn't want any negativity surrounding her birth so she choose to just ignore it and find other ways but later felt disappointed for not being honored with that wish. The rest of Sarah's labor and birth proceeded without complication and she was able to have an unmedicated vaginal delivery. She had hoped to delay cord clamping but Henry wasn't breathing and they had to take him away for a couple minutes to make sure he was okay. Sarah is still nursing Henry today but they had a bit of a rough start. He was sleepy while they were in the hospital and she was pressured to give him formula but was able to stave it off. After they'd been home for a few days Sarah tried to administer the vitamins her pediatrician recommended and Henry choked. They ended up having to call the paramedics and ultimately had him transferred to hospital where he spent a week but they were unable to find any issues and he's been in good health ever since other than a milk and soy protein allergy.
