The phenomenal Jill Fielke with daughter Meg (14). Jill is also mom to Kyle (13). Jill was a nurse practitioner prior to becoming a mother, she had super healthy pregnancies and loved being pregnant. With her first pregnancy she went in for her 36 week check up and checked out 4 days later with a cesarean and a baby. Due to that experience, she had a very longstanding postpartum depression that has colored her choices in life including her approach in midwifery. With her second pregnancy, she planned a home birth with midwives but after 8 hours stuck at 8cm she transferred to the hospital and after 5 more hours stuck at 8cm she had a repeat cesarean. The hospital was very abusive and unsupportive and she even had a physician tell her "You almost killed your baby". When her son was 6 months old she went back to school for midwifery and is still practicing.
Jill's daughter Meg is a strong, smart and articulate young woman amongst many other wonderful things. She was excited to participate in the project aside her mother. After starting precocious puberty around 7 years old, Meg began to struggle with her own body image. She has battled with anorexia for the past two years and while it has still been a journey, she is doing better each day. We hope she continues to heal and love herself more as she overcomes this.
