The lovely Caseylin Darcy and Lux Clementine (2). She was very sick in early pregnancy which made it very difficult to navigate her days but she was so grateful to have amazing friends to help her though her pregnancy and become birthing partners for her.
Caseylin was seeing midwives and hoped for an unmedicated delivery. She carried to 17 days post dates before they decided to induce but her body had a difficult time responding to the medications. They tried Cervidil, then Pitocin, then Nubian but after 72 hours she had only dilated half a centimeter. It was then she realized she couldn't breathe and she knew as a yoga instructor that if she couldn't breathe her body wouldn't be able to open. She decided then to get an epidural and was finally able to have a nap. After she rested she began to dilate consistently but Lux became hung up on her pelvic bone. They realized she needed some assistance and were able to use a vacuum to extract her rather quickly.
Lux began to breastfeed right away and things were going well, however, Caseylin had to return to work at 6 weeks postpartum and found it too difficult to keep up with pumping and all of her clients. She made the choice to wean Lux at 7 months and is still quite sad they weren't able to make things work for longer.
Caseylin has settled into motherhood quite beautifully though balancing career, parenting, and school has been challenging. She understands the importance in knowing that she is the perfect mother for Lux and Lux is the perfect child for her.
