The wonderful Kathryn Hudak with her son Stephen III ("Phen" - 8 months).
Kathryn didn't imagine every becoming a mother until she met her husband and knew right away that she wanted to have a family with him. They were fortunate to conceive without complication and saw a group of home birth midwives throughout her pregnancy. She was very healthy throughout, though she faced some criticism from one of the midwives about the weight she gained (50 lbs) but passed her glucose test with flying colors. She was able to give birth to her son at home after just 7 hours of labor and 1 hour of pushing. Breastfeeding has been a wonderful experience as well. Kathryn hopes that her participation helps to normalize. She wants there to be less stigma surrounding birth, bodies and breastfeeding regardless of what a woman's choices should be. She has recently left her 15 year career to stay at home with her son and hopes to enjoy this phase of life caring for her children while knowing she can always go back to work down the road.
