The magnificent Christina Martinez with her son James (9 months). Christina was in a rocky relationship when she became pregnant for the first time. She miscarried her first pregnancy, had an ectopic pregnancy with her second and miscarried again with her third all of which added to a very difficult time. She's now in a wonderful relationship and though she conceived her son unexpectedly very much enjoyed her pregnancy with her new partner. Things went great until she started having some contractions around 30 weeks, her pregnancy continued until 32 weeks when she began bleeding. It was discovered she had a placental abruption but her doctor allowed her to labor to progress on her own with close monitoring. James did very well through the delivery and they monitored her well being and blood loss as she progressed. James arrived 7.5 weeks early and spent a month in the NICU learning how to suck, swallow and breathe but hasn't had any other complications with his health. Christina says that she is happy both she and her son are healthy but has grieved the end of her pregnancy. She never got to the point where she was uncomfortable and felt that she was ready for it to be over which has been something difficult to overcome that can be compounded by other's commenting on her body. She says she would give anything including extra weight or stretch marks to have had those 7 weeks of her pregnancy.
