The amazing Penny Nickles. Penny is mother to Delaney (14) and Thea (11). Penny had a healthy pregnancy with Delaney, she was a large baby at over 9 pounds and after pushing for 3 hours Penny was worried she may have to have a cesarean but they were able to help her deliver with forceps. Because of Delaney's size Penny was induced 1 week early with Thea. Her pregnancy had been a bit harder this time. Due to her body producing too much relaxin her hips turned out and in addition to being in a great deal of pain she had to wear a special belt and walk with a cane. Penny says that her births were very different experiences, her first daughter was born with 13 people in the room due to her high risk status and with her second she labored alone and only had three people present as she delivered. Penny is a confident person who says she is only getting more comfortable in her body with age and we talked a bit about how raising teen/tween girls presents a slew of body image issues in today's society. She is trying to counter it by being healthy herself and helping her girls to focus on being healthy and strong.
