The amazing Ashley Baker (currently 16 weeks pregnant), Sebastian (14) and Astrid (almost 10).
Ashley had severe heartburn through pregnancy with Sebastian's but it was otherwise great. She felt really good and was only in labor for 9.5 hours. They gave her Pitocin at one point and she needed to use pain medication which she had hoped to avoid but he was born at 9 lbs 4 oz after just 20 minutes of pushing and all in all it was a wonderful experience.
Pregnancy with Astrid was a bit more difficult due to heart palpitations that they later learned were anxiety attacks. She also had some major kidney infections throughout her pregnancy. Labor was a bit longer this time at 15 hours but she didn't have any hard labor. They broke her water at 5 cms and only 15 minutes and two pushes later she was born.
Ashley nursed Sebastian until he was 11 months but she unable able to nurse Astrid beyond her first few days due to jaundice and weight issues. Breastfeeding was hard due to severe acid reflux with Sebastian. She felt like all she did his first six months was sit and nurse him but once they introduced solids things got better and he self-weaned without any issues.
It's been 10 years since her last pregnancy and Ashley says she's much more tired this time. While it's more physically challenging it's a much happier pregnancy. She's in a much better place in her life with a new husband. This baby was very much planned and everyone is looking forward to their new arrival.
Ashley says that no one showed her what women's bodies look like after children. The ways your body changes are not negative. She now has stretch marks and belly flab and it's because her body brought these beautiful children into the world. She hopes to teach them that these transformations are amazing. That if Astrid has children herself some day, she knows the changes are ones she can find beautiful and if Sebastian sees a partner through pregnancy he can love and respect her through every change.
