The wonderful Wendy Fawcett with her son William Black Squirrel (6 months). Wendy had a healthy pregnancy and says that she felt amazing in the beginning. Near the end, however, she began to feel uncomfortable due to Williams size and the decision was made to induce on her due date. Her body responded well to pitocin and she was able to push him out without complication. After his birth, however, is when things start to get fuzzy for Wendy. She passed out several times (she recalls 2, her mother recalls 5) but they were never able to figure out why. She was worried this would affect her ability to breastfeed but thankfully, it has not. Wendy joined us, in part, to celebrate reaching her first breastfeeding goal of 6 months. She says that as a working mother in a male dominated field (she's an attorney) it has been a bit awkward at times finding the time and space to pump but she's seen it through and says that the ability to grow, birth and now provide nourishment for her son, feels nothing short of miraculous.
