The wonderful Yvonne Oldaker. Mother of three girls; Rhodadendron (13), Wren (5) and Andromeda (2). Yvonne's first birth took place in Washington state and was an uneventful water birth at home. After moving to Illinois, she became pregnant again and had a very difficult time finding a legal home birth midwife. Eventually, Yvonne, went with a lay midwife and delivered at home. After birth, she had a life threatening hemorrhage and her midwife was unable to treat her because she was not able to keep pitocin on hand. Yvonne had PTSD related to her second birth and decided to deliver in hospital with Annie. She was induced at 42+ weeks and had developed Polyhydramnios during pregnancy which she feels was her bodie's response to her previous trauma, an attempt to keep her baby safe. She suffered from abdominal separation due to her polyhydramnios and even though she is super fit has a stomach that will never be the same. Yvonne is currently attending UIC's school of Midwifery and can't wait to give back to the community.
