The incredible Jennifer Kaplan with her son Holden (26 months). Jennifer wasn't certain she wanted to be a parent. She has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and just didn't believe that she could ever do it. Eventually she and her husband decided to try but it wasn't happening. She had always said that she would never try IVF but after trying everything else her doctor said he was confident he could get her pregnant with IVF. She decided to go through with it and they were able to retrieve 28 eggs and create 23 embryos. After three transfers she was able to conceive Holden. She's always been an athlete but her fertility doctor said she wasn't allowed to exercise for the first 12 weeks. The rest of her pregnancy was very healthy and she had decided to have a natural birth which everyone thought was funny as her mom and sister had both had cesareans. She hired a midwife with hospital privileges at 32 weeks and took Bradley classes. She carried Holden to 40 weeks and ended up needing to be induced for low amniotic fluid. She labored naturally but he got stuck and needed to be delivered via cesarean. She was grateful for the Bradley method because she knew she couldn't let her cesarean define her. She got out of the hospital as soon as possible and was able to nurse Holden until 21 months. She echoed time and again that she really didn't think her body could do it, she doubted it for awhile but with a little help getting started she did. She wants her son to be able to see her as a beautiful strong mother and be happy in her own skin.
