The courageous Kaeleen Kirkpatrick with her son Rowe (13 months). Kaeleen is also 19 weeks pregnant with baby number two! She was sick her entire first pregnancy, throwing up until the moment she pushed him out. She had planned on a waterbirth with midwives but her water broke and she was still at a two so they started Pitocin, making that no longer an option. She labored for a total of 46 long hours, pushing for 7 before her son was finally born. She says she was so exhausted she was falling asleep between pushes and it was all very traumatic. Her recovery was difficult but she was blessed with an easy baby and breastfeeding also came easy for the pair. Getting pregnant again so quickly wasn't something she felt mentally ready to do but she's preparing for it all again with the same supportive providers. She hopes to tandem feed when the new baby comes and is currently working through some pain and issues with feeling touched out but says her son deserves it so she hopes to stick with it. She's felt a bit less sick this time as well and while she's hesitant to make solid plans for this delivery should things happen differently is quietly hoping for a healing water birth. Kaeleen has a hard time with her body as a pregnant person but feels it's even more important to face those fears.
