The amazing MaryEllen Krattinger with her rainbow baby, Aaron (7 months). MaryEllen is also step mother to 4 aged 18, 15, 12 and 6. MaryEllen found out her first child was no longer alive at her initial ultrasound. She became pregnant with Aaron very quickly thereafter. She had a very healthy pregnancy, but dealt with a lot of swelling near the end. She went on maternity leave at 36 weeks and had planned to take a vacation but went into labor a bit early instead. Her labor was great but Aaron was tiny and unable to keep his temperature so he had to spend some time in the NICU. MaryEllen found the interventions very frustrating having to keep him under warming lights and receive formula to keep his glucose levels in check. She pushed them to give him a chance on his own and he was able to leave the hospital with her 24 hours later. Breastfeeding presented a lot of initial challenges due to nipple confusion and flat nipples but she was able to wean him off of a nipple shield at 6 weeks and everything has been perfect since.
