The amazing Davie Doles with her youngest of four Brenlee (4 months). Davie is also mom to Alexander (10), Julian (10/19 - 10/22/10) and Evan (2). Davie was a teen mom to her first son and was very uneducated about the labor and birth she had wanted. She ended up delivering vaginally with an epidural. She was a single mom for many years until she married her husband shortly before Julian was born. Davie had a previously healthy pregnancy but at 24 weeks, she had a placental abruption and had to deliver immediately via emergency cesarean. Julian was very sick and after it was determined that he was only being kept alive via machine they took him off life support and he passed at 4 days old. Davie was determined to deal with her grief after her loss and determined to not let it get the best of her. When she got pregnant with Evan she had hoped for a much different birth but was told by doctors and midwives that she would not be able to have a VBAC so she had a repeat cesarean. For Brenlee's birth she knew she had to do things differently. She hired a doula and made a plan to labor at home as long as possible in order to have a vaginal birth. She labored at home and started crowing in the hospital hallway. When she got to a bed she wanted to push on all fours and had a nurse attempt to push her over and tell her to lie down. She told the nurse to keep her hands off of her and pushed her daughter out in two pushes with no doctors present. She was forced to sign many releases and waivers but managed to have her VBAC and bring her healthy, happy daughter home in 24 hours.
