The wonderful Mary Cochrane with her daughter Brittany Bianchi and grandson Alexander (1). Mary is the mother two, Brittany and Shannon. Both of her pregnancies were healthy, and both of her girls were born via cesarean, Shannon because she was breech and Brittany was a repeat cesarean because Mary chose to have a tubal ligation following her birth. Alexander is currently her only grandchild and even though she lives across the country, she can facetime with him daily and visits often. Brittany had a healthy, easy pregnancy but her birth was very difficult. She labored for a long time, and Alexander was in distress for much of it. They ultimately wheeled her into the ER to prep for a cesarean but discovered she was fully dilated and effaced so they offered her the opportunity to push and deliver him vaginally with assistance. The doctor assisted with forceps but did not perform an episiotomy, and she tore badly. A week later, she discovered she had an infection and had to undergo another operation and stay in the hospital for IV antibiotics. Thankfully, Alexander was able to stay with her. Brittany is a former ballerina, and she struggled greatly with body image after constantly being told that she needed to lose weight or change her body. She said she's not there yet but hopes that participating in the project will help her to love her body.
