The radiant Kristy Reynolds, Mialena (9), Kaylor (4), and Dominic (2).
Kristy says that she had the best laid plans for her birth but nothing went as she'd hoped. She had an extensive birth plan, took Bradley birth classes, and hoped to go about labor and delivery as naturally minded as possible. However, she was on bedrest from 17 weeks along due to a separated pelvis and when the time came Mialena was just not coming out. She was ultimately delivered via emergency cesarean with her cord wrapped tightly around her body and her neck. Postpartum recovery was difficult and Kristy struggled with postpartum depression in the months that followed.
Kristy chose to have a repeat cesarean with Kaylor and Dominic was born via emergency cesarean due to preeclampsia. Recovery with Kaylor went well but Kristy has struggled with postpartum depression following Dominic's birth as well. It's getting better but she says it's still a challenge some days. Documenting this stage of life with her children was important for Kristy. Despite things happening on terms other than her own, motherhood in all it's forms and transitions has been wonderful and so worthy of celebrating.
