"I experienced a miscarriage when my eldest was 21 months old. My family and I were so excited to add another sweetie to our family. At the first ultrasound, my husband, daughter, and my mom attended. It was there, and while my mom was video taping, that we found out that our baby did not have a heartbeat. I chose to carry the baby until she came out naturally verses having a D&C that day as I still had hope. It took a little over a month (in which we moved, and I had several blood tests confirming the miscarriage) for my labor to begin. I birthed my second daughter, who was very small and unrecognizable really, with only my 1 year old by my side. She stood there in the bathroom, calm as could be, petting my leg and consoling me. She was wonderful and what got me through. We buried Astrid under a magnolia tree, and I have a magnolia tattoo on my shoulder in remembrance of her.
My womb has given me four pregnancies, three children, two home water births, and one hospital birth. My breasts have nourished my children for a total of 82 months. Even in the shadow of depression, low self confidence, and naysayers, it’s impossible to not be proud of my body.
I have loved looking the 4TBP images and reading the stories. It has helped inspire me to love my body and what i am capable of. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to be part of this and hopefully inspire another mama."
