The amazing Sunny Rose Healey, Iolani Luz is (almost 5), and Valian Paz (8 mo).
"I feel so blessed to be on this journey. Motherhood is so challenging in every possible way, but it's the most amazing, blessed journey I can imagine". The richness that being a mother has brought to life has changed Sunny in every way - "Even though it's tough to work, it has made my work and my offerings of my gifts to the world stronger and has given them more integrity".
Both of Sunny's children were born at home but did not come easily. Her first labor was long and intense but amazing. She had acupuncture in the middle of the birthing process which was an amazing relief and she felt so cared for in having her mother in law as her midwife and a small, intimate support group around her. Valian's birth went very well, also until she began to hemorrhage but they were able to get everything under control without any extra concern.
Sunny attends women in birth as an apprentice midwife and while at a birth, she was sitting with two of her mentor midwives while the couple was having private time in the birthing room. One of the midwives told her about the project and showed her photos. "I loved that this project is happening. I am participating because I am stepping into accepting my body the way it is and the way it has been changed and is still changing since having my children, and want to accept my body even more. Standing in front of a camera and sharing my photo with the world is new territory for me and I hope to step into this with bravery, an open heart and an open sharing with all mothers!"
