The gorgeous Ginger Huffman and Carson (20 months)
Ginger says that she considers herself lucky to have had such a smooth pregnancy. She had morning sickness and exhaustion and all the things that come with it but thankfully no complications. She went into labor spontaneously four days prior to her due date and labored to 6 cms at home. Once at the hospital, she had an epidural and labor continued to progress well. Ginger began to feel the urge to push but had also just spiked a fever. They decided to just get the baby out as soon as possible and she was able to in 50 minutes of pushing. After she was able to spend some time with him, they took Carson to the nursery for testing to make sure he hadn't developed an infection. They brought him back to her with an IV in his hand for antibiotics and she got very emotional recalling the experience. The thought of her brand new baby experiencing pain and her not being there to help him was difficult.
Ginger is supportive of breastfeeding but wasn't certain it was going to be for her. She decided to give it a try, knowing that she would stop if she experience any complications and things actually came easily for her. She nursed exclusively for three months and continued pumping until they weaned at six months.
Ginger wasn't sure she had the guts or self confidence to participate but promised her cousins who will be participating in our upcoming NYC stop that she would do it too. "To me this project is about helping women find the confidence in their self imagine after having a baby"
