The stunning Danielle Sobotka and daughter Emilia (9 months). Danielle, her husband and sisters did a whole 30 diet in January of last year and she attributes that to her ability to conceive so quickly. Within the first couple weeks of deciding they wanted to have a baby they were able to get pregnant. She had a very uncomplicated pregnancy and was able to work until the day before her scheduled induction. The induction process and labor were far more intense than she had imagined and at the very end she was begging for pain relief but was told it was too late. After 3 hours of pushing her daughter was born vaginally with vacuum assistance. Danielle says that within 24 hours of her daughters birth she realized things were going to be more difficult than she had dreamed. She worked with lactation staff around the clock in the hospital but struggled with breastfeeding. After a couple weeks at home Danielle hired an independent lactation consultant who identified her daughter's tongue tie. At the doctor she learned that she also had a lip tie that was making nursing difficult. Once those were corrected things got a bit easier and Danielle was able to breastfeed with supplementation until her daughter was about 5 months old. Danielle was diagnosed with Postpartum Depression 3 weeks after her daughters birth and has been able to use medication to help her feel more balanced. She spoke about how amazing her daughter is and how often she makes her laugh but also noted that motherhood itself has been more isolating than she ever imagined.
