The magnificent Meghan Pender with her daughter McKenna Claire (16 months).
Very shortly after their wedding, Meghan's husband was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin's lymphoma. They moved from Texas to Wisconsin to be nearer the Mayo clinic for treatment. They were told that he may no longer be fertile due to the cancer or the chemo so they decided to bank his sperm just in case. He underwent 6 months of chemotherapy and while they can't yet technically say that he's in remission, he's doing very well and has never been healthier. Shortly after he finished treatment, they started trying for baby and were able to conceive without any assistance. Meghan had a very healthy pregnancy and natural birth in hospital. She labored at home for 36 hours and was only at the hospital for about 2 hours before McKenna was born. Meghan and McKenna have had a wonderful breastfeeding relationship with no complications and she hopes to continue until she self weans. They have been trying to conceive again and hopes it happens sooner than later and that she is able to breastfeed through her pregnancy and tandem nurse. Meghan says that she's always wanted to be a mother and that it's the best thing she's ever done.
