The lovely Rachel Rozycki with 9 month old Zada Madonna. Rachel had a very healthy pregnancy without complications. She wanted to deliver her baby in a freestanding birth center but due to laws in Chicago where she calls home had to find a place in Milwaukee, 90 minutes away, to do so. She had to drive for all of her prenatal care and then headed there upon the start of labor. Rachel had some issues with her blood pressure during labor but they resolved. There was also meconium present before delivery which would have resulted in an immediate cesarean had she been in the hospital but since Zada was stable her midwife let her labor through. Zada was born in the water, perfectly healthy. Rachel found breastfeeding to be far more difficult and painful than she had ever imagined it would be but she is happy she stuck with it and exclusively breastfed Zada for 6 months.
