The beautiful Thereasa Bremer with her son Elliott (15 months). Thereasa is also 19 weeks pregnant with her second baby. Thereasa had a very healthy pregnancy with Elliot. She had hoped to have as natural of delivery as possible, but things didn't go exactly as she planned. She labored for nearly three days and was progressing but not as quickly as the doctors wanted. She made it to 9 cms, but there were worries about Elliott, so Thereasa was encouraged to consent to a cesarean birth. Everything moved so quickly from there she wasn't able to have any pictures of Elliott's birth and was worried that she wasn't going to be able to hold or see him right away. She hadn't learned if she was having a boy or girl, and while she heard him cry they didn't immediately tell her he was a boy. Thereasa was able to hold him within the first 10 minutes of life but says that there was a disconnect, and she didn't feel like he was really her baby. She was able to initiate breastfeeding and almost exclusively pumped for the first month while they got the hang of things. It took her a few months to really feel connected to her son which she believes is directly connected to her birth experience. Thereasa has felt a bit more sick with her current pregnancy than her last, but things are going really well. She's hoping to have a VBAC and is considering hiring a doula.
