The stunning Sasha O'Brien with her son Sawyer (4 months old). Sasha is a med student and she and her husband decided that they wanted to try to have a child before she started her residency program so they started trying just as she started her schooling. After about 1 year of attempts with no success they sought the help of a fertility specialist and tried a couple rounds of IUI. The IUI wasn't successful so they moved to on to IVF and were able to conceive Sawyer on their first transfer. Sasha had a pretty uneventful early pregnancy but began to start contracting in her late second trimester and had to be on bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Sasha was due to take her Step One exams while on bedrest and was actually having contractions all through her exam. The ended up inducing at 38 weeks due to concerns about her fluid levels and ultimately cord compression. Her induction went well and progressed quickly and she was able to have an uneventful vaginal delivery with immediate skin to skin. Breastfeeding was difficult at first but is going very well. Sasha struggled with feeling like her body wasn't doing what it was supposed to after her journey with infertility and says that having a vaginal birth and being able to breastfeed was amazingly healing for her.
