The amazing Alexandra Dare, RubyLuna Lillian (11), and Xenon Phoenix (22 months).
Alexandra says that she couldn't have had two pregnancy and birth experiences that were more different. Through both she took away something that she needed, however, and learned that there is no such thing as a perfect birth. Alexandra was single during her first pregnancy but felt incredibly empowered throughout. She was healthy, found a group of amazingly supportive people and was able to give birth vaginally without any complications. She felt strong and capable which is exactly what was needed to begin her motherhood journey with confidence.
She had an involved and committed partner throughout her second pregnancy and was well supported but faced many complications including gestational diabetes and pregnancy related hypertension. She had hoped that her labor and delivery would be similar to her first but extremely high blood pressures led to an emergency cesarean delivery with a tough recovery.
Honoring your authentic self is very important to Alexandra and through that, self love. She says that we never look at things in nature and criticize them or pick them apart but as humans we are so quick to judge ourselves and others that way. We aren't prefect, but even when there are things about ourselves we wish to improve, love is the best way to get there. Alexandra points out that no one has ever been prompted to make positive changes after being shamed or criticized, it takes love to get there.
