The beautiful Shawn Ogden and 9.5 month old Palmer Madeline Eileen. Shawn tried for many years to get pregnant. She did 5 months of Clomid and one round of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) that took on the first attempt. Her pregnancy went very well until about 27 weeks when she had a small bleeding episode due to Placenta Previa. She was hospitalized and put on modified bedrest. Soon after she found out, she went to a high risk OB and on her first visit was hospitalized for hypertension. Her protein levels were very high and she was told that she had to stay until she delivered, hopefully 8 weeks later. She found out that she also had gestational diabetes but talked the doctor into releasing her 11 days later. She had a couple additional bleeding episodes but was released from the hospital within 24 hours. At 33 weeks, she had another major bleed and had to be rehospitalized. The next day, she started having contractions and had to deliver preterm via cesarean. Palmer only had to spend 1 day in the NICU and then was transferred to a special nursery for 12 days while she learned to eat and regulate her temperature. She came home on Shawn and her husband's 12th wedding anniversary.
