The lovely Laura Booth with her son George Booth (9 months). Laura had a healthy pregnancy for the most part. She dealt with a bit of morning sickness until about 15 weeks. She had a fall and broke her arm. Thankfully, the baby was okay, and she ended up feeling as if her body had something else to focus on as her morning sickness went away. Laura went into labor just a few days post-dates, she opted for some pain medication but in hindsight, she wishes she hadn't as she doesn't feel she reacted well. She was able to nap and woke up at about 7cms and ready to push soon after. She pushed for 2 hours, but things weren't really happening. They offered her the opportunity to delivery vaginally with an episiotomy and forceps or via cesarean. She chose the cesarean delivery and things went well. Laura was determined to breastfeed, but George struggled to latch in the hospital and ended up being given formula. Laura was sent home with nipple shields which enabled her to get him to latch. At about 6 weeks, he refused the shield and latched directly, but it was extremely painful. They had George checked out, and it was determined he had a lip and tongue tie which had to be revised via laser. It took about 7 months to hit their stride, but Laura and George have a wonderful breastfeeding relationship now.
