The lovely Lou Chinna Crumbley, mother to John (19 - not pictured), Jade (stillborn at 16 weeks), Jayce (14), Brilliance (21 months). Lou Chinna is currently five months pregnant with another daughter.
Lou Chinna says that she started early when she conceived her first son at just 17. Her husband hadn't wanted any kids while she wanted four, so they decided to compromise with two. Motherhood for her has been the most amazing aspect of womanhood and she wouldn't trade it for anything.
John's pregnancy and birth went well but Lou Chinna wasn't able to breastfeed him, likely because she was young and just didn't have the support she says. She was thrilled to conceive her first daughter and devastated to lose her thinking it would never happen again. Her pregnancy with Jayce went well and he was delivered via cesarean and she was excited to be able to nurse him for two years.
From there, Lou Chinna, thought her child bearing days were behind her. She and her husband divorced and she went from being a stay at home mom, back to the work force. Watching her body transform from a teen to a mom and beyond has been hugely empowering for Lou Chinna. She worked as an exotic dancer for a while, and then a mail carrier and was more fit than she'd ever been. Now, she's at her heaviest but has loved herself inside and out, every step of the way.
Lou Chinna is a single parent by choice now and was thrilled to be pregnant with her first daughter and now another. It's much different raising children without the support of another parent but in some ways she likes it better this way.
"A woman's body shows a history of what she has been through and mine shows it all. This project helps women find confidence in their bodies and show them how beautiful they are. That's why I'm here. I love my body"
