The lovely Lorna Berry with her daughter Grace (19 months). Lorna is also mum to Samantha (17.5 years). Lorna had Samantha when she was 27 after trying for a long time to conceive. Her pregnancy went well, and she was in labor for 3 days at a birthing center before she was transferred out, and Samantha was finally delivered with the assistance of forceps and an episiotomy. She was able to go home 24 hours after the birth and had a great breastfeeding relationship. Lorna left Samantha's dad when she was just under two. She knew she always wanted to have another baby, but it took her awhile to find the right person. In Lorna's 30's she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and realized her fertility could be compromised. She went to see a naturopath and had testing done. She was referred for IVF but thought that everything was going to be just fine. 4 months after trying she was able to conceive naturally. There is 20 days short of 16 years between her girls. She went post-dates with Grace and did everything she could to go into labor naturally but ended up having to be induced. Ultimately she delivered via emergency cesarean which was not at all what she'd wanted. Still, she found the recovery from the surgery to be easier than her recovery from such a long labor and delivery the first time around. Grace nursed well until she weaned at 17 months. Lorna believes that body image is so important, as is being healthy but thinks that there doesn't need to be moral value placed on a person's weight.
