The amazing Adriana Rifredi with her son Cayden (4 months). Before getting pregnant Adriana, was very self-destructive and was suffering greatly from an eating disorder. She says that she ate maybe one meal a week, smoked cigarettes to curb her appetite. She lived for the feeling of an empty stomach thinking that it was a sign that she was making progress on her never ending journey of being thin. When she found out she was pregnant, she did everything she could to stay healthy and found it easier to love her body knowing that it was growing her son. She ate because she knew she had to. Her pregnancy progressed, and she had two preterm labor scares but was able to carry Cayden to term. It was determined that she had developed an infection in her placenta and amniotic fluid and she had to deliver via cesarean. The infection had spread to Cayden's blood and he had to spend a week in the NICU after his birth. Adriana has had to have three rounds of antibiotics and at 13 weeks postpartum, her incision is still not healed. She is currently breastfeeding and while she has continued to struggle with her eating disorder, the fact that she needs to eat to be able to feed her baby has helped her stay on track.
