The stunning Lisa Scales and Thomas (5). Lisa is also bonus mom to Josh (15).
Lisa's pregnancy with Thomas went well and she had hoped and planned for a delivery free from medication and intervention if at all possible. She hired a doula and when her water broke on Friday evening stayed home to labor until the following day when she went into the hospital. Once in the hospital Lisa continued to labor but wasn't progressing. She was hoping to avoid an epidural so she consented to morphine and Pitocin to see if they could get things going. An epidural ultimately allowed Lisa to progress to 6cms but things stalled there.
On Sunday morning, after her water had been broken since Friday, she needed to deliver via cesarean. While it wasn't the birth that she had hoped for, things went well and she is grateful that both she and Thomas remained healthy. Breastfeeding was difficult for the first 6 weeks but once they found their way nursing was wonderful until Thomas weaned just after his first birthday.
Lisa chose to share her story to add it to this movement that celebrates individual stories while showing how similar we all are.
