The radiant Dania Reyes, Anthony James (5), Daniel Alejandro (3), and Alexandra Marie (1.5)
All three of Dania's pregnancies have come as a surprise which has meant that they've taken a bit of time to adjust to. Her first pregnancy went well but she needed to deliver via cesarean which led to a difficult postpartum period. Dania struggled with feelings that her body had let her down and developed postpartum depression but wasn't able to seek treatment right away. She was grateful that Anthony was able to latch and nurse without issue but things were really hard in the beginning.
When her son was just 7 months old, Dania learned she was pregnant again and this pregnancy was a bit of a blur for her. She was incredibly depressed throughout it and doesn't remember much. Daniel was born via repeat cesarean and it was after his birth that Dania was able to seek treatment and began taking antidepressant medication which was extremely helpful for her.
While pregnancy with Alexandra was also a surprise, Dania felt better through it than she ever had before. Her daughter was also delivered via cesarean and they are all doing really well today. Dania has been nursing since 2011, through two pregnancies and is grateful that she's been able to have that bond with her children, especially now that she knows she's done having them.
Having watched this movement grow from it's early moments and having her best friend participate, Dania was eager to share her story. She hopes that other women are able to get the help and support they need to feel empowered in their choices and circumstances.
