Tiana Walters

January 17, 2017 in 4th Trimester Bodies

The wonderful Tiana Walters and Gabriella Ruby Diaz (4 months)

Tiana is a teen mom and says that being mother to Gabriella is the most amazing thing she's ever done. Parenting at her age is not easy but is so rewarding.

Tiana has struggled with anxiety, depression, and self harm previously but things became more difficult during her pregnancy and have continued postpartum. She self admitted while pregnant due to self harm and feeling like she didn't want to live but didn't want to harm her baby, and has continued to seek treatment due to intrusive thoughts. Tiana had a preterm labor scare at 28 weeks but continued to carry past her due date. She went to the hospital when contractions started at 40 weeks, 3 days but was sent home as she hadn't yet begun to dilate. She labored through the day and into the evening with contractions becoming more difficult throughout. At 10:30 in the evening she began to feel the urge to push but was still at home. She had her boyfriend call 911 and when the EMT's arrived they could see her amniotic sac bulge with each contraction. They had to stop en route to the hospital because they thought she was going to deliver in the back of the ambulance but they were able to make it. Gabriella was earthside less than 15 minutes after their arrival.

"I think being a young mom is hard because there are so many obstacles that are in my way but I'm going back to school and holding my household down so I'm pretty proud of myself. I want to show other moms, especially new young moms like myself, that even if you don't lose all the baby weight or get rid of all the stretch marks you are still deserving of love and you still are beautiful".
