The amazing Amanda Demarest, Pippa (3) and Lilah (2)
Amanda conceived Pippa quickly after deciding to stop using birth control. The pregnancy was not easy on her with considerable morning sickness and bleeding at 15 weeks. At their 20 week scan they learned that Pippa was a girl but also that she may have kidney issues. Amanda was monitored closely and thankfully Pippa had a scan after she was born which showed that her kidneys were both fine. Amanda choose to take Bradley classes to prepare for a natural birth. At almost 40 weeks, her blood pressure was high, and her doctor decided she should be induced. They broke Amanda's water around 1pm and Pippa was born after an hour of pushing. They had to preform an episiotomy due to Pippa's sunny side up presentation and Amanda lost a lot of blood but they both recovered well.
Amanda found out she was pregnant just 6 days after Pippa's first birthday, having just decided to move in with her in-laws, they were both surprised and excited. She went to the doctor quickly after finding out she was pregnant because they weren't sure how far along she was, since her cycles were irregular from breastfeeding. The doctor she saw basically told her that it was either very early in the pregnancy or that she would miscarry. Her numbers weren't doubling as they hoped which the used as further proof she would miscarry. At her next appointment the baby had a heart beat and was measuring at 6 weeks. "I had a hard time not thinking something bad was going to happen. But everything went as normal as possible".
This pregnancy was much different from her first without any complications. Her water broke early in the morning, but she wasn't having any contractions so they took their time. When she arrived she was dilated 2cm but not having any contractions she tried bouncing and walking but nothing helped. When she finally checked in they notieced that her water hadn't fully ruptured so they broke it for her and labor quickly became very intense. Lilah arrived in two pushes.
"Motherhood is one of the hardest things I have ever experienced it's filled with so many emotions. I was a lucky person to have a huge village to surround my little family and to help".
