The courageous Jennifer Carr and her children William (15), Atticus (8) and Bitsy (Elizabeth - 5). Jennifer had Will when she 18. She had a lot of morning sickness with him and lost a lot of weight. Her delivery with him was easy and straight forward. She had an epidural, her heart rate dipped but she was able to give birth to him vaginally without complication. She graduated high school while she was pregnant, took a semester off and then went to university on a scholarship. They were able to provide a free childcare through an early Head Start program so she could attend classes and was able to finish college in 3.5 years. After graduation she decided she really wanted to advocate for children and their families and she would do that best as an Attorney; so, she moved and began her studies and graduated Law school while pregnant with Atticus. The week before she graduated, her husband at the time, suffered a traumatic brain injury. She didn't want to take her bar exam but realized that with her future suddenly more uncertain, she needed to do it. Atticus' father was able to recover enough to return to work and Jennifer realized her dream of becoming an Attorney. Atticus arrived just a few months later. She labored at home for a few hours and went to the hospital with her doula. She pushed for a few hours but he wasn't coming and she ultimately delivered via cesarean. A few years later, they were surprised with Bitsy's conception and arrival. Jennifer had always hoped to have an unmedicated delivery and so she planned to give birth to her daughter at home. She had a lengthy labor and was eventually too exhausted so they transferred to the hospital for an epidural and a nap. After some pain relief and rest she was able to have deliver Elizabeth via VBAC. Jennifer has breastfed all of her children, William for about a year, Atticus for 18 months and Elizabeth for about 2.5 years.
