The magnificent Stacy Medina with her son Emiliano (7 months). Stacy had a healthy pregnancy and uneventful delivery. She knew that she wanted an unmedicated, vaginal delivery and had some fears about the birth so she hired a doula to help her prepare. She and her husband are temporarily living with his grandfather and she was nervous about laboring at the house with extended family members around but things went well. They eventually transferred to the hospital she had chosen to deliver at with the support of midwives, her spouse and doula. Stacy says that she didn't expect to labor as long as she did but found the experience a testament to her inner strength. Once her son came out she was all smiles and eager to celebrate her accomplishment. Stacy was surprised by how sore she was afterwards and how painful her recovery has been. She has some vaginal scarring that was unexpected and difficult. Breastfeeding has been a wonderful experience for the pair and is something that Stacy is hoping to continue until she feels she is ready to transition on to their next phase. Stacy wants us all to be a bit more eager to celebrate the changes in our bodies through this phase in our lives and appreciate all the beauty marks we carry forward.
