The stunning Nora Sachs with her daughter Amelia (13 weeks). Even before they conceived, Nora and her husband had planned for their pregnancy and birth and found a homebirth midwife they knew they wanted to work with. Nora was able to get pregnant without issue and had a very textbook pregnancy. She labored and delivered at home and her husband caught her daughter. Nora says that she normally isn't one to meditate but found her entire birth to be a very meditative experience. She felt able to deeply connect with her child and talk to her through the labor and delivery. Once she was born Nora was on high. As she pulled Amelia to her chest, she tugged the cord and began to hemorrhage. Nora was so euphoric that she didn't really experience the severity of the situation, but it was very scary for her husband. Thankfully, her midwife was able to administer pitocin and once she delivered the placenta everything was okay. Nora had been told by her grandmother, herself a mother of 10, that she wouldn't be able to breastfeed because women in her family just couldn't and while Nora had every intention to try, she had that in the back of her mind. Thankfully that has gone without a hitch as well, and she and Amelia have a beautiful breastfeeding relationship.
