The stunning Coley Salas with her boys Damiion (6) and Cinco (22 months). Coley is also mom to a daughter Odyssey who would be 3 years old now, still born at 35 weeks. She is also 5 months pregnant with another boy, Ajax. Coley had healthy pregnancies with all of her babies. She had hoped for natural deliveries with all of them and says that she has better educated herself and come into her own with every birth. She had a cascade of interventions with Damiion but says she was scared and not as confident advocating for herself at the time. She was able to breastfeed him for six weeks but was active duty Navy at the time and didn't have the support to continue once she returned to work. Odyssey's birth was the most peaceful. She had a very healthy pregnancy with no cause for concern until she stopped feeling her daughter move and learned that her heart had stopped. Labor was allowed to progress without intervention and she had the vaginal birth she desired. Coley was connected with Molly Bears after her daughter's death and has found great solace in the organization. She had another straightforward conception and pregnancy with Cinco and while his birth wasn't exactly as she'd anticipated she was able to decline a lot of interventions and ultimately agreed to induction when it was truly medically necessary. Cinco was placed on her chest immediately after birth and while it was a wonderful moment she immediately felt the grief of her daughter's loss rush back. She struggled with the fact that this baby was here and he was wonderful but he didn't replace her girl. Her current pregnancy is going very well and she and her husband hope to have several more children both biologically and via adoption. Coley's motivation for participation has a lot to do with embracing this movement and community but even more remarkably, she is determined to create the legacy her daughter she can not leave for herself.
