The amazing Amy Potter with her children Ethan (16), JorjaAnn (9), Maximillion (2) and Benjamin (3 months). Amy had healthy pregnancies with all of her children. She was able to have natural, drug free deliveries with second and third babies and only dealt with any real complications during her most recent pregnancy, in part because she was labelled high risk for being of "Advanced Maternal Age". Amy has also been able to have a wonderful breastfeeding relationship with each of her children. When Ethan was 5, his eyes started crossing suddenly, they took him to the ER and discovered that he had a large brain tumor. Ethan had to spend 60 days in hospital and while he has some residual trembling in his extremities and learning difficulties, he is in generally good health today. It was a terrifying experience for Amy but it taught her that, "regardless of what you're going through, the sun always rises tomorrow." Amy has struggled with her body image her whole life; she has been diagnosed with Bipolar II and has a history of anorexia, bulimia, alcohol abuse and cutting. She says that her children have so often saved her from herself. Every time she has a new little person to take care of, she's able to take better care of herself and avoid her self-harming behaviors. Amy learned how to be bulimic from her mother and hopes that by taking steps in healing and embracing herself she is able to write a much more positive story for her children.
