The amazing Amy Middleton, Kaia (7), Soleil (5) and Leo (7 weeks).
Amy is also a previous project participant, you can view her original story and photo here and in our first book.
Amy was fortunate to have healthy pregnancies and births with her daughters. While her son's also went well it was more difficult on her physically. Whether due to age or genetics, her pregnancy was much harder on her body but both she and Leo remained healthy. Amy's labor was about 6 hours start to finish and was also a bit more trying than her first two. Despite things being more difficult, Leo's was born at home without complication surrounded by his big sisters who love him dearly. Breastfeeding is going well also and Amy is enjoying experience life with a new baby again, almost as if it's the first time.
After Amy's initial session her eldest daughter had strong feelings about what she perceived as her color being taken out of their photograph. At that point in time, we hadn't had the chance to yet work with many women of color and it sparked a very important dialogue amongst both Amy and her daughters as well for this project as a whole. It was important for Amy to come back again with her girls to experience their place in the movement, as well as, document this next stage of motherhood after welcoming her son into the world.
