The lovely Katy Luscombe with her son Flynn (2) and daughter Phoebe (8 months). Katy participated previously with when Flynn was just 1 and she was 6 weeks pregnant with Phoebe. You can read the first part of her story here: http://4thtrimesterbodies.com/katlin-luscombe/
Katy had been medicated for depression prior to her pregnancy with Flynn and decided to go off of it through her pregnancy, hoping she admits, that things would just get better. When he was about 6 months old, however she really started to struggle and decided to go back on medication until she became pregnant again with Phoebe. She's dealt with more anxiety than sadness in this postpartum period and is managing but things she may need to resume medication when she weans.
Her pregnancy was different in that it everything felt more intense this time but her pregnancy progressed well. She was able to see the same midwives and deliver at the same birthing center. She had an amazingly intense labor and delivery, only about 2.5 hours from start to finish and delivered within about 10 minutes of arriving.
Breastfeeding has gone very well this time also and Katy thinks their success is in part due to her willingness to speak up this time and ask for help when she needed it and follow what she knew was best for herself. Katy's second pregnancy and birth has been such a healing experience she wanted to share and celebrate this next chapter.
