The beautiful Carrie Bean with her boys Tanner Elliot (3) and Camden Zachery (15 mo). Carrie had a very healthy first pregnancy. She labored at home for 35 hours but was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia upon admission in the hospital. Her wishes for a natural delivery were taken away and she was made to stay flat on her back through posterior labor. She consented to Stadol and then an epidural at 9.5 cms due to the pain and intensity of her labor, knowing she wouldn't be able to push without help . Tanner was born with his cord wrapped and not breathing. He was taken to NICU but no one communicated with Carrie what was going on, furthering her trauma. Carrie had issues with low milk supply but was able to supplement with donor milk.
Her second pregnancy was great. Camden's cord was not properly attached but he grew beautifully. Carrie labored at home and arrived at the birth center just a couple hours before Camden was born. Working with midwives and having such a natural experience was very healing for Carrie. She has also had great success with breastfeeding Camden is happy to still be going strong at 15 months.
