The amazing Ashley Tapley with her daughter Solana Rae (7 months). Ashley was able to conceive without issue but had pretty significant cramping throughout her pregnancy. It was so bad through her second trimester that her OB questioned her daughter's ability to survive. It turned out that Ashley and her care provider didn't see eye to eye. He discouraged her from having a birth plan saying that it wouldn't go the way she wanted anyway, and she'd end up with a cesarean. She tried multiple times to leave the practice to see a midwife, but her OB found out and threatened her care. At one point she had simply scheduled an appointment to consult with the midwife and needed to see her OB to be treated for dehydration. He refused to see her until she canceled the midwifery appointment in his office. Finally at 36 weeks, Ashley successfully switched providers and loved her midwife. She stayed with her all through labor, and she was progressing naturally to 7 cms and fully effaced. They broke her waters, and her labor stalled and started regressing. She was back to 3cm before she knew it and while her midwife never pushed it she and her boyfriend decided it was best to deliver via cesarean. She left the hospital in just over 24 hours and was able to initiate breastfeeding without issue.
