The lovely Maria Johnson with baby Madeline (16 months today!). Maria is Brazilian, now living in the States. She struggled with scoliosis growing up and was told that it may affect any future pregnancies. Maria has also had a difficult time with her own body image and weight as well as her relationship with food throughout her life. Thankfully, she had a healthy pregnancy and says that her scoliosis didn't bother her the entire time. Her labor and delivery went smoothly, she got an epidural as planned and was surprised at how easy the pushing phase was for her. Madeline was able to breastfeed without issue beautifully and the pair still have an amazing nursing relationship today. Maria's first few days in the hospital were great but once she got home she realized how sad she was feeling. Friends told her it may be baby blues but she struggled to feel happy and connect to her baby. She even worried that she had a made a mistake in having a child. Ultimately, Maria sought counseling and decided that medication was needed to become the healthy, connected woman and mother she is today. Maria and her husband want a large family and are currently trying for baby number two. Maria says that Madeline's first two months are a blur to her and she has decided to continue taking medication in hopes of having a different outcome with the next baby in her family.
