The amazing Amanda Wyatt with her boys Aidan (5.5) and Liam (16 months). Amanda had a healthy first pregnancy and had planned for a natural birth in the hospital. Her water broke near term in her sleep and she went to the hospital shortly thereafter. He doctor let her progress for a while before giving her pitocin which she had hoped to avoid. Aidan was born vaginally without further intervention just over 24 hours after labor began. Her second pregnancy began without issue as well, at about 22 weeks she learned that Liam had club foot and they worried that he may also have Spina Bifida and other neurological issues. A week before her estimated due date Amanda learned that the hospital she had hoped to deliver at had changed its policies and that her then 4 year old Aidan would not be allowed to be present for his brother's birth. She scrambled to find an alternative option. She considered a homebirth and ultimately found another hospital in the area and a midwife who was willing to work with her, and she was able to have just the birth she'd hoped for and Aidan got to be there every step of the way.
