The amazing Josie Crockett, mother to Gabriel and Logan (Fraternal Twins - 3) and Lucy (8 months). Josie also miscarried a pregnancy around 7 weeks on June 6th, 2014 (Guinn).
Josie has struggled with depression her whole life, and while pregnant with her boys it became even worse manifesting in postpartum depression and anxiety. Josie never sought help for her depression and when she found out she was pregnant with Lucy, her depression became even more intense. She knew then that she needed to talk to her doctor.
Josie conceived her boys when she was just 19 and her boyfriend chose not to stay involved. She had a healthy pregnancy and delivered via cesarean at 39 weeks. She met her daughter's father when her boys were just 3 months old and says that the relationship was amazing. They were and are great friends but their partnership didn't work out.
After giving birth to Lucy via repeat cesarean, Josie, had a very bad panic attack in the hospital and thought she was going to die. After that, her anxiety continued to increase and her postpartum depression made her not want to leave her bed. She couldn't get herself to shower, eat, or enjoy anything. Since then, Josie has been trying to address her depression and find what will help her to better cope and overcome her struggles. As single mother of three young children it isn't always easy but Josie tries to remind herself that she is doing the best she possibly can in the more difficult times.
"I chose to participate as a way to empower myself on my journey to find self love and happiness. I want other women to know that no matter how hard the struggle may be, things do get better. And that while postpartum depression is very real, to never feel alone because there are so many of us who feel that way and who would do anything to help each other out. "
