The lovely Lynsey, Dorothy (2.5), and Felix (10 months)
Lynsey had healthy pregnancy's with each of her children - with Dorothy, her doctor needed to leave town for a day so she suggested that they strip her membranes to see if it would jump start labor. Her water broke a few days later at 41 weeks but contractions did not keep going on their own. They started Pitocin to keep things moving and after a few hours she felt like she wanted to push. Lynsey was supported by her husband and a doula but after hours of pushing she was exhausted and not making progress, so the doctor recommended a cesarean and she was able to have Dorothy in her arms shortly thereafter.
Lynsey thought that things would be different with Felix but she carried again post dates without any signs of labor or contractions. Her providers didn't feel comfortable inducing with her previous cesarean so she delivered without laboring at 41 weeks.
Breastfeeding has gone well with both of the kids and she's enjoying nursing them both today.
"Being a mom is so different than I expected. It has connected me to so many other women in a way, that without being a mother, wouldn't be there. Being a mom is a sanctifying experience. I never realized how selfish I was until I had kids. They bring out the best and worst in me. Each day, I pray for grace to love them more than myself."
