The gorgeous Gabriela Vega Soto with her daughter Nicola (15 months). Gabriela was told that she could never have children. She decided to adopt so she and her husband went to Mexico, where she is from to try to find a sibling pair that they could provide a family for. On the way home they celebrated her husbands birthday and a few weeks later she got really sick. They couldn't figure out what was going on with her until her mother suggested that just maybe she was pregnant. She initially scoffed but took a test and was floored when it was positive. She had a beautiful pregnancy and experienced all the typical feelings of morning sickness, sensitivities to smells and fatigue. Labor started at home and she went to hospital around 6cms dilated to labor and deliver with her midwife. Eventually Nicola became distressed and even though her midwife and suggested she didn't think she was head for a cesarean the OB on call said she need a cesarean right away and if she didn't, she was killing her baby. They rushed into surgery and Nicola was born immediately, her daughter was healthy but her uterus needed to be reconstructed leading to a very challenging recovery. She struggled with her healing and breastfeeding for the first 10 weeks. She's struggled with adjusting to her new role and new body but loves her new role. Gabriela's mother told her once that motherhood was the most beautiful pain and she never quite understood but now it all makes sense.
